MISSY & HOOVER FEELING THE LOVE OF A NEW FENCED YARD!
*Friends of Vermont Dogs has received a generous grant from ASPCA to continue our work!*
Lonely, bored and cold.
Chaining or tethering refers to the practice of restraining a dog to a stationary object. Chaining does not refer to dogs walked on leashes.
Common Effects of Chaining
- Cause of depression and/or aggression
- Unsanitary living
- Subject to attack from others
- Insect infestation/poor health
- Isolation/poor socialization
Do you know a dog who would enjoy a fenced yard to run and have the opportunity to play with their people? We are here to help. Our all-volunteer group provides and/or installs fences for people who choose to unchain their dog(s). We are scheduling installations for the spring now. If you have a referral, please go to our "Contact Us" page or call 802-552-0613.
**Please note that our mission and limited budget dictate that we only serve those whose dogs live chained outside 24/7 or nearly that. We would love to help everyone who could use a fence to allow their dogs more freedom. If at all possible, we suggest that regular walks on leashes with their special humans can go a long way for the exercise and socialization that's needed!
If you or anyone you know would like to donate good used fencing or kenneling, please contact us right away and we will come and dismantle it!!
